Sustainability for the people and the environment.
The Durable system is lead-free PVC with “green” stabilisers based on calcium and zinc. This guarantees that those who utilise the Durable window are also working to protect the environment.
Sustainable activities follow the principle that future generations have the same prospects of a life with many opportunities as we do. This can only be reached when environmental protection, the economy, and society achieve a global equilibrium because they all interact with each other. The contributions from Norfolk Broads Exteriors take the form of energy efficient window systems, lead-free stabilisers in virgin material, and intelligent recycling concepts.
Saving energy and heating costs. Protecting the environment.
Windows make up a good third of the facade. They define how much heat stays indoors. In a single-family home, for instance, the heat loss through the windows can be as high as 40% of the total heating energy. Old windows let through the most energy losses, which are about four to ten times higher than through windows with thermal insulation glass. The general rule: Windows installed before 1995 no longer fulfil the growing requirements for energy saving, insulated houses. There is therefore a huge savings potential here.
How much energy can a window save? Can this performance be compared? It can: The so called U-value specifies how much heat energy is lost to the outside. You need only remember: The smaller the U-value, the better the thermal insulation. And the greater the savings in energy costs.
Roads, industry, railways, planes: our world is becoming louder and louder. It is therefore all the more important that this noise does not penetrate your personal living space. Noise has been proved to be harmful to health, even when you are no longer aware of it. The consequence can be cardiovascular diseases, irritability, and poor concentration. The unit used to measure volume, or sound pressure, is incidentally called decibel (dB). When sleeping, over 30 % of the population are exposed to a permanent noise level exceeding 50 dB. This is two and a half times more than the maximum recommended value of 20 dB for bedrooms. Effective noise protection therefore provides a sustainable boost to the quality of living.
If you want to improve sound insulation in your own home, top priority must be given to the windows. These are available in a range of sound transmission class, depending on the environment and the noise levels. Ultra-modern window technology with highly durable PVC-U profiles and special functional glazing provides effective sound insulation that keeps everyday noise where it belongs – outside.
Modern security technology for the best possible protection.
Every minute there is a burglary in the UK, an incredible yet shocking statistic. And not only at nights, but also during the day, when the occupants are not at home. Above all, burglars enter homes through windows or balcony or terrace doors. And it is precisely here where many burglary attempts are foiled by the right security technology. If the burglar fails to enter within a very short time, they quickly start looking for another building. So it is always worth your while to invest in modern security measures. Not least of all, security also means living quality.
Durable windows and doors are fitted with special glazing, burglar resistant frames and fittings, and additional locks or grilles. Depending on your individual security needs, you can choose from a range of security standards in your new windows and doors. We have a complete range of products that can achieve Secured by Design and satisfy the rigorous demands of PAS 24 testing.
Yet you too can do something to protect yourself and your home – with quite simple means. Close all windows and doors, even when you are out for a short time only. Never leave the windows in the tilted or ventilating position – not even on higher floors. Burglars will otherwise feel invited, especially when garden furniture or ladders make it easier for them to gain access.
